Rainy Season Is Around The Corner, Are Your Drains Ready?

As summer is quickly coming to an end, this means rainy season is on its way. Often, rainy season is when many drainage systems back up, clog, and flood leaving you scrambling to fix the issue after it's too late. It doesn't have to be like this! With some preparation, you can drastically lower this risk of any of these issues. Here are some tips and tricks you can use today to help prevent these issues and wash away your stress about rainy season.

Tips For Prepping For Rainy Season

  1. Clear all leaves, rubbish, and debris from your drains: Often, we receive emergency call outs when simply clearing the leaves from the drain fixes the problem. Especially when the leaves start to fall, keep a watchful eye on your drain lids to make sure they are cleared.

  2. Check the level of debris in the catch basins: Many people don't know, but you don't need a specialized tool to take the lids off the catch basins. With a long rod of any sort, you can remove the lid and check the level of debris build up in the catch basin. Ensure the build up is not spilling into the drainage pipe leading into the drainage system. Refer to our Catch Basin FAQ blog post to answer any questions you may have about how catch basins work.

  3. Address any/all issues throughout the year: If you have any pooling or flooding, call us immediately to clean the drain or catch basin out.

  4. Preventative Maintenance: Have your catch basins and sump pumps serviced regularly/annually. With routine care, this will drastically reduce the risk of future problems when they are properly cleaned and maintained throughout the year.

  5. Schedule a cleaning today: It is not too late to address your catch basins, sump pumps, trench ditches, and drainage system as a whole before the rain hits. Reach out to us to get a free quote or schedule a cleaning before an issue arises!
